A Start

When I  told Avinash (Baba Bhogi as he is dearly called) about my writing interests, he said, "Well, Why don't you start a Blog?" "Blo..og..", I murmered apprehensively and continued, " Actually I was thinking to write a book". "Fair Enough", he said "a blog is an excellent start before you venture into wrting a book." This happened almost two months ago and finally after much deliberation here I am to brag about all my thoughts, opinions, emotions and what not. "Only one thing", I queried Baba "can I write about how stupid I find some people when they talk or do something?" "To hell with it man, write whatever you want to", he said wondering how many questions more he needs to face, before he could convince me into blogging. Sometimes I feel, he might be thinking why did he ever bring the topic of a Blog with me. I think he will be the happiest person to see this post from me.

Anyways coming back to myself, if there was one thing I wanted to do last, it had to be writing. From the day I started going to school or atleast from the day I remember going to school, it was writing writing and just writing. In school it was classwork, then homework and again tutorials in the tution. Except for the drill class which was for an hour everyday and sundays, the most prominent thing I had been doing was writing. And then there were these assignments, unit tests, quarterly, half-yearly and final exams as a Bonus. At first college seemed to be a welcome start after school. But then it was again back to the same chores and the exception in this case were the lab records. And so went my life until I completed my bachelors and entered a paradise that was called IIT Delhi. It was here one fine september morning that I developed an interest in reading. Frankly speaking no one here bothered about what we were doing. It was such a bliss as compared to the uneventful life I had till then. For a change I even started to look at technical books with an interest. What captivated me in taking up reading seriously was the very first novel I took in my hands after what one might categorise as an eternity. It was a novel by Fredrick Forsyth - The Devils' Alternative. It was a novel on international espionage blended with suspense, action and a power packed climax. At the end of the novel I was experiencing a kind of joy propably never felt by me till then. This prompted me to start another novel also by Fredrick Forsyth, The Day of the Jackal again a suspense thriller based on an assasination attempt on the French President.  So started my reading exploits which extended to many other genres. So it was during this foray into intensive reading that I started thinking one day even I could come up with a plot which could turn into an international best-seller.

Meanwhile as life progressed I finished my masters, started my career in TATA Motors Ltd (and still continuiung as I am writing this post) and more than 3 years have passed since, until baba mentioned BLOG. Now when I look back at the fine september morning when I started the devil's alternative, it all seems to have gone past like a flash, unnoticed and uneventful. Eventhough I have gone through many kinds of books and stacked up a decent collection of them in my private cabinet (some of which I lend to Mohit which he conviniently forgets - by the way Mohit, is the protagonist of my next post ) , there is a sense of some emptiness, . Whether its the anxiety to read as much as I can or my inability to start writing something till now or something else altogether, I am not so sure. So it is amidst this feeling of emptiness and uneventfulness that I started writing this blog. It sure seems exciting. So look out for my posts.....
